Pat Miller 

Farm Steward

Since 2009, Pat has been tending to the fields, fences and farm animals of Plas Newydd Farm.  Pat is an adept equipment operator and supports Conservation Program staff to implement pilot projects of experimental techniques or approaches that inform the design, implementation and future management plans for Wapato Valley Mitigation and Conservation Bank, including a simulated tidal hydrology influenced seed bank study to test germination of seed bank at varying soil core elevations, and a compost pilot project to test the feasibility of composting scraped down reed canarygrass sod prior to compost placement on restored habitats.  Pat’s favorite saying is “the best thing for a farmer’s land is the farmers footsteps”.  Pat is a local Ridgefield resident with a deep love of the land and water.
