The Wapato Valley Mitigation and Conservation Bank site consists of important floodplain habitats that support a unique assemblage of regional biodiversity. Starting in 2021, the Bank will provide a suite of compensatory mitigation credit types to offset development impacts and comply with federal, state, and local permits for projects within the Lower Columbia. Restoration funded by the sale of mitigation credits will result in 876-acres of restored Columbia River floodplain habitats. Restoration results in resilient habitats, providing a depth of ecosystem functions and dynamic habitat-forming processes that allows for deformity and habitat succession.
